Sr. Director Medical Affairs and MSL

The candidate will provide scientific strategic and operational expertise into the planning and execution of medical affairs activities for CARA including:
o Publication planning
o Data Analysis planning
o KOL Management; develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders and key professional societies
o Leading advisory boards
o Represents CARA by actively attending and/or participating in medical congress and conferences
o Provides medical support for promotional and non-promotional materials review
o Provides medical support, education and guidance to commercial, marketing, and sales teams
o Develops deep knowledge of the relevant disease areas and CARA products
o Provide medical expertise in support of developing content (slides, websites, standard response letters) for medical communications and education to advance disease state and clinical understanding.

Provides medical support to the clinical research team including:
o Assistance with identifying suitable study sites and investigators
o Supports clinical studies by aiding in patient enrollment, addressing questions regarding CARA products

Establishes and manages the MSL team
o Directs and oversees the activities of the medical science liaison group
o Develops foundational materials and supports training for MSLs
o Monitors the development of the relationship with the medical/scientific community
o Provides perspective about changes in the medical/scientific environment and competitive activity

Requirements:
o Pharm D, PhD or MD
o ~10 years’ experience in medical affairs with MSL experience
o Expansive knowledge of dermatology disease area and possibly nephrology
o Knowledge of the clinical development process
o Excellent communication skills and relationship building capabilities
o Must be willing and able to travel
o Leadership skills, including a passion for working within multiple cross functional teams
o Is seen as a scientifically credible leader and collaborative partner to internal and external stakeholders.
o Demonstrated flexibility within a dynamic, fast-paced, cross-functional team.
o Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
o Ability to perform under stringent timelines
